Student Accountability Policy for WSMS
We at West Side Middle School feel one of our objectives is to have all of our students demonstrate academic competencies at each grade level prior to moving to the next grade level by passing the Indiana standardized ISTEP+ exam. The following guidelines have been established to help ensure that all students meet the requirements for graduation as established by the Indiana Department of Education.
All West Side Middle School students who meet the following criteria will be promoted to the next grade level. Students who do not meet the following criteria must schedule a meeting with the West Side Middle School Student Accountability Transition Team in order to be considered for promotion to the next grade level.
GROUP I CRITERIA (MUST MEET TWO OF THESE THREE)
A. Students must pass the Math and Language Arts sections of the ISTEP+ exam.
In the 2008-2009 school year the State of Indiana will give the ISTEP+ in the fall and again in spring. In order to meet criteria A, the student must pass both the Math and Language Arts sections of the ISTEP+ exam in either the fall or the spring. This will be the only year the test will be given twice because of the state's decision to move the test from the fall to the spring
